How Much Does Tree Removal Cost in Dorset?
The honest answer is 'it depends', but here's what it depends on, with typical UK ranges, so you know roughly what to expect before we give you an exact free quote.
Typical price ranges
Indicative UK ranges (every job is quoted individually):
- Small tree (up to ~10m, clear space to fell): a few hundred pounds.
- Medium tree (10-15m, some dismantling): mid hundreds.
- Large tree (15m+, sectional dismantle over buildings): high hundreds into four figures.
- Dangerous/storm-damaged trees: priced on inspection, because instability changes the method entirely.
Stump grinding is usually quoted separately. See our stump grinding cost guide.
What actually drives the price
- Access: a tree we can fell whole into open space costs a fraction of one dismantled piece-by-piece over a conservatory.
- Rigging and lowering: anything over structures needs ropes, friction devices and time.
- Waste: chipping and removing arisings takes real truck time; keeping logs and chip on site saves money.
- Constraints: TPOs and conservation areas add application lead time (we handle these free within our quotes).
- Machinery: our spider lift and chip forwarders often make "impossible access" jobs cheaper, not dearer, because they cut climber-hours.
How to keep the cost down
- Send photos with your enquiry, so we can often quote without a visit.
- Keep the logs and chip if you have a use for them.
- Bundle work: neighbours sharing a visit, or several trees in one mobilisation.
- Book planned work for our quieter late-winter period.
Beware quotes that seem too cheap: no insurance, no waste licence and no NPTC tickets is how cheap jobs become expensive ones.
